The upper part of the river Bystraya. During our 3 days rafting tour the face of the river
changed all the time. The current in the upper part was quite strong, so no paddling was
necessary, except for the small corrections in the navigation. The river meandered in one narrow river
bed between the forested mountains.
Because the Bystrya river flows in the west direction some day we left the mountains and reached the tundra zone. Here the current got so lazy, that we need to paddle to forge ahead. The river flowed wide-stretched in many channels. A lot of big forested islands and small sand banks separated the river channels from each other. The first day was the most beautiful of the whole rafting tour. It was one of the seldom sunny and cloudless days in Kamchatka. Therefore we all were in high spirits. At the following days the typical Kamchatkas' weather came back: clouds, drizzle and coldness. |
