A young mountain gorilla female in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Currently there are 3 habituated gorilla families in Bwindi NP. The gorilla family is mostly composed of an adult male, the silverback, and 9 to 14 females, juveniles and infants. The silverback takes care of his family and defends it against intruders. The gorilla tracking is among the world's great wildlife experiences. Despite the high fees it attracts yearly thousands of tourists and the permissions are bought out for months. In Uganda a gorilla group could be visited by up to 6 people for at most one hour daily.
