The mountain gorilla males weighs up to 215 kg. You first realize, how huge is the silverback, when you approach the animal to within 2 m. Despite their terrible size the silverbacks are usually placid and gentle unless they feel threatened.
The mountain gorilla females are much smaller. They weight only up to 120 kg.
